THE 3 MAIN INGREDIENTS

The 3 MAIN INGREDIENTS

RAW COCOA

It is impossible to make chocolate which is as tasty as Takana without using raw cocoa of the highest quality. We use organic cocoa powder from beans grown in the Peruvian and Ecuadorian Amazon.

Our cocoa is a superfood in its own right, which is reflected in its unique taste. But that’s not all. Rich in iron, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc and copper, it is also rich in nutrients and antioxidants. There are no additives or preservatives. Nothing has been added and nothing has been removed.

COCOA BUTTER

Our organic cocoa butter comes from unroasted beans grown in the Peruvian Amazon, the spiritual home of cocoa. This cocoa butter has not been refined or deodorised, which gives it its incredible chocolate flavour.

COCONUT FLOWER

SUGAR

When we looked for an alternative to refined sugar, we decided to use coconut flower sugar.

This natural sugar is made from coconut blossoms. The flowers are tied and shaken to collect the sap. This is then heated to obtain syrup, which is shaken to form grains.

Coconut flower sugar provides vitamins and minerals, mainly polyphenols, potassium, zinc and iron. It has a much lower glycaemic index than white sugar. It is also recognised by WHO as being the most sustainable type of sugar. Although it is very healthy, coconut flower sugar is still sugar, which is why it should be consumed in moderation. Just like chocolate.

INGREDIENTS ACCORDING TO FLAVOUR

INGREDIENTS ACCORDING TO FLAVOUR

DRIED MORELLO

CHERRY

Like goji berries or cape goose-berries, morello cherries are considered a super-fruit as they are very rich in nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants. It is therefore an excellent food supplement which intensifies the effects of raw cocoa.

SESAME

Hindu tradition associates sesame with the symbol of immortality. Very rich in fibre, sesame seeds gently stimulate intestinal transit and cleanse the digestive system. As sesame is an oleaginous plant, its seeds are rich in lipids and essential fatty acids. It is also a source of minerals, vitamins and antioxidants.

CARDAMOM

Cardamom has long been recognised for its effectiveness in the treatment of digestive disorders. It is recommended to treat heartburn, constipation and liver and gallbladder infections.

HAZELNUTS

Small and wonderfully crunchy, hazelnuts are full of minerals, vegetable proteins and vitamins. Hazelnuts are even more pleasant to eat when they are combined with raw chocolate.

ALMONDS

Almonds are among the most nutritious and healthy nuts. They can help us lose weight, protect our hearts, increase our energy and even improve our complexion.

ORANGE PEEL

Thanks to you, Takana lovers, we eat a lot of fruit in the morning. While many of you throw away orange peels, we dry them in order to mix them into our chocolate. Orange peels have beneficial effects on health, and their active ingredients are a good reason to include them in your diet. And there is no better way to enjoy them than in a delicious piece of chocolate

OUR PRODUCERS

OUR PRODUCERS

Our medium-term objective is to be able to deal directly with producers.

For the moment, we are buying our raw cocoa from organic suppliers, as the production volume does not yet allow us to buy directly from producers. Nevertheless, we source the cocoa beans we use in order to ensure that they are grown according to artisanal methods by small producers who do not use chemical products and who benefit from the success of their beans.

It is also for this reason that
we use beans from Peru and Ecuador. These regions are more supportive of agro-forestry systems, which have less impact on the environment. Raw cocoa is grown by small producers who sell their crops to cooperatives acting as intermediaries. The cocoa is then processed in Peru or Ecuador, before being
exported to Europe.

We are convinced that by producing a raw and organic product, producers take more care in planting, harvesting, processing and shipping. In addition, in this type of fair trade, the local community participates in all of these operations, and production can thus benefit everyone.

With just one piece of cho-colate, you can already take
the first step towards a little more mindfulness in your life. By savouring it consciously, an act as simple as eating may be perceived differently and more intensely. Look at, touch, smell and enjoy every bite cons-

ciously. And above all, take time to enjoy it in order to distinguish tastes, aromas, flavours and textures. If you focus on the different sensory perceptions and are able to observe them, you will have reached a state of mindfulness.

When you savour Takana chocolate, you are immersed in yourself during a sacred moment of reconnection with your senses, emotions and inner strength.
